Dr. Jill Bolte Taylor got a research opportunity few brain scientists would wish for: A blood vessel exploded in her brain and she watched as her brain functions ~ motion, speech, self-awareness ~ shut down one by one. It took her eight years to rebuild her own brain from the inside out, learning firsthand about how the human brain creates our perception of reality. Along the way, she learned that peace is literally just a thought away, and she'll give us techniques for "stepping to the right" into peace and delight, far from the constant chatter of our left brains. Eloquent, passionate, and clear, Dr. Jill convinces us that we, too, can choose our states of mind! Email your questions for "the Singin' Scientist" to info@maryannelive.com .

Dr. Jill Bolte Taylor is the author of the New York Times bestselling memoir My Stroke of Insight: A Brain Scientist's Personal Journey, and was chosen as one of TIME Magazine's 100 Most Influential People in the World for 2008. Dr. Jill was the premiere guest on Oprah's 2008 Soul Series webcast, and a featured speaker at the TED (Technology, Education, Design) conference in 2008 and 2009. Dr. Jill is the national spokesperson for the Harvard Brain Tissue Resource Center (Harvard Brain Bank) and travels the country as the Singin' Scientist. She is the consulting neuroanatomist for the Midwest Proton Radiotherapy Institute and is currently the president of the National Alliance on Mental Illness in Bloomington, Indiana.
